Walking Nick is easy.
We started with a slip lead, easily placed loosely over Nicks head as he waited for the paddock gate to open and we walked casually to the next gate while in sniffing mode. Once through the gate Nick was allowed off lead and he wandered away, enjoying the freedom. After a mooch, he responded quickly to his name and sat close expecting a treat. He took the tiny morsel of food from my closed hand and wandered off again. He was calm and engaged, and his intelligence shines through. He made regular eye contact and looked for, and seemed to expect, instruction.
We played the recall game a few times until his attention wained so we walked on, with Nick bounding ahead. Even when quite a distance ahead the moment Nick heard his name, he looked over - and an arm held high with a treat brought him swiftly back.
We stopped still for a while to look and listen, and then walked back to the kennel with a slip lead on. This time, Nick was eager and did pull on the lead until he was 'home'.
What a gorgeous intelligent boy. He listens, he responds, and he is looking for someone to share a home with. Maybe that's you?
