YIP YIP YEEOOOOOOL! YIP YIP YEEOOOOOL!
Welcome to Bailey, Robyn and Sharpei-Max to the forever residents gang at PJ! Yep, its true! All 3 of them will spend the rest of their lives here - with me & Lilly! Yay! We are all so excited and happy - but I expect you are probably wondering what's happened...
Bailey came to the UK through another rescue and was adopted. Sadly the adoption didn't work out as Bailey bit a little person so he was due to go back to Romania - but My Mam said she would like to give him a chance at PJ. Bailey was quite a handful when he got here and he had a frenzied bark and showed his teeth aggressively whenever people got close to him. The poor boy was so frightened. When a stranger came to PJ, he could hear and smell them and he would go "bonkers"! Thank goodness for My Mam, because he started to feel safe and relax with her and then, eventually, he accepted one or two volunteers too, and he accepted me, Lilly & the cats. The trouble is, he can be a bit unpredictable when scared and he acts more like a guard dog when visitors come to the gate. My Mam took Bailey to the vets recently and was told that he has something 'neurological' going on, as well as being blind.
Robyn bites. He bit on the transport and bit when he arrived - in fact there are few visitors that he hasn't bitten. But he has bonded with My Mam and Helpful Lady (even though he has bitten them both too). When he is in the right place and all is calm in Robyn-world, then he is a very loving and happy chappy. But when things are wrong...
Neither Bailey or Robyn can be rehomed due to the risk of biting and the risk of ending up being put to sleep because of it. Both are much loved and part of the PJ team.
Sharpei-Max was born in Romania with deformed back legs, but that doesn't stop him from getting about independently and he lives happily with Faith at My Mam's, but spends all day at the Hospice. He was listed for rehoming on the website but all that changed after My Mam took him to the vets because Max's boy bits were showing and he was having trouble pooping too (sorry Max for embarressing you!). The vet looked Max over from nose tip to tail tip and said what a lovely happy boy he is and so well behaved, BUT... Max has an enlarged prostrate and the cure can often be castration - which was done before he travelled to PJ - so he will be monitored. Max also has fused pelvic bones and fused knees. His ankles have boney deposits from were he has lain on a hard surface for so SO long and he is riddled with arthritus. Since living at PJ, Max has become much more mobile and active and that's because he has special medicines and supplements to help him, and gentle exercise. In spite of his aches and pains, Max is quite a character and is rather feisty towards the majority of the residents - but My Mam knows just how to make him gooey eyed and squishy! (nobody can be more gooey and squishy than me though...)
YIP YIP YEEOOOOOL!
Bye for now, love Toto x
